Square Enix’s arcade cricket title Big Cup Cricket has arrived on the Android Market, marking a debut on the platform for developer Beautiful Game Studios, maker of Championship Manager on the PC.

Big Cup Cricket takes a less serious look at the Gentleman’s Game than other titles, focusing more on the big hits than whether the ball and pitch is in the right condition for a right-handed seamer.

Why the conversion, you ask? Here's Roy Meredith from Beautiful Game Studios to explain in management-speak, “We’ve seen a rapid uptake of Google’s Android OS-based smart phones within our core demographic”.

In case you plan to look for more information on the Android Market description, the text there appears to have been lifted directly from the App Store, so along with promises of 20 teams and a World Cup mode to test your cricket skills, there’s also "retina and Game Center support".

Big Cup Cricket is available now on the Android Market (sans Retina display and Game Center support) as both a free download (ad supported) or for £2.50.
