PopCap launches freemium Bejeweled Blitz and new version of Bejeweled on iOS

PopCap Games has ripped apart Bejeweled 2 + Blitz and yanked it from the App Store in order to release two new versions of the title as separate paid-for and freemium releases.

The paid-for title is a new adaptation of the original game, simply called Bejeweled. It contains support for Retina display, three game modes (Classic, Zen, Diamond Mine), achievements, and leaderboards. But not Blitz.

Bejeweled Blitz, on the other hand, is a standalone freemium title based on the popular time-based mode.

Blitz also features supports for Retina display, as well as Facebook integration and a Daily Spin feature that allows players to earn bonus coins.

The new version of Bejeweled is available now, priced at 69p / 99c, while Bejeweled Blitz can be downloaded for free.
