Bejeweled 2 on special offer at the App Store

There's been a crazy number of games dropping their prices lately on the App Store, and it seems even the big hitters are willing to take a cut in costs to get the players in. PopCap has slashed 60 per cent off the price of Bejeweled 2 for a 'limited time', and as we're very keen to encourage cheaper games to flourish we'd recommend anyone who's not already loaded up the classic jewel-swapping game does so sharpish.

Not that iPhone games are especially expensive at the best of times, but it seems the slew of hardware competitors for Apple's revolutionary handset has prompted the competition wars to get started on the App Store before the battle's really begun. Of course, there's also a phenomenal number of apps available now, so developers must be feeling the need to compete with each other to get their wares noticed. One way or another, it's great for the consumer.
