It used to be that you couldn't move your finger across a touchscreen without bumping into a Flight Control clone.

But that was 2009 and this is 2010. Which means that Bee Patrol - effectively Flight Control with bees - provides an interesting shade of nostalgia.

From honey to the bee

Obviously, it's not a complex game. You either play in the timed Queen mode or the survival Worker mode.

Just trace a path from bee to honeycomb via flower and make sure none of your bees collide. You'll also need to avoid spiders and deal with rain showers and wind. Sounds simple doesn't it?

The game is spread across three themes, with nine levels in each, and social networking, achievements and leaderboards are supported with Game Center and OpenFeint.

Bee Patrol is out now for iPhone and iPod touch, priced 99c, €0.79 or 59p, or there's an HD version for iPad, priced $2.99, €2.39 or £1.79.
