PSP version of Battlefield 2 Modern Combat “on hold”

Ceasefire announced

Previously reported as being under development in EA’s Warrington studio in the North of England, latest news from Digital Illusions (the Swedish developer behind the whole Battlefield series) reveals the PSP version of Battlefield 2 Modern Combat is “on hold”. The reason given is a lack of staff, as EA’s UK developers are also working on the Xbox and Playstation 2 versions of the game. These will be released at the end of 2005, but the PSP version, which would have been released in early 2006, could be canned altogether.

There is some good news, however; Digital Illusions has announced there will be a PSP version of its next shooter. Currently untitled and due for release sometime in 2006 or 2007, it’s expected to feature the same team- and vehicle-based gameplay that has made the Battlefield series such a success, with over five million copies sold.
