Apple still hasn't announced its iPhone gaming plans, but developers are continuing to plug the gap with games that work within the iPhone's Safari browser.

The latest is Ripped Productions, which has launched a new game called BattleFleet, in which you place five ships, then try to blow up your opponent's vessels before they get yours.

Yep, that's Battleships then.

The game has three difficulty modes, a choice of normal or fast game speeds, and several hidden Easter Eggs to find. That's secret things, by the way, not actual chocolate confectionery. The latter has no place in modern naval warfare, as far as we know.

BattleFleet is available to play now: just point your iPhone browser to http://www.rogerkenny.com/battlefleet/ (and it works in normal web browsers, too).
