Fantasy turn-based strategy game, Battle for Wesnoth has seen both iPhone and iPad versions drop in price to 59p/99c/€0.79 in preemptive celebration of Halloween.

The game originally started on PC in 2003, before the game was ported over to the iOS devices with new campaigns, rules and units courting an estimated four million-strong community.

What this means in practical terms is that there’s more content and campaigns in this game than in any other strategy title for iPhone and iPod touch – even the most recent episode reportedly clocks in at over 10 hours (and that’s just one of 20 episodes).

While it does come with a tutorial to ease new players in, Wesnoth is very much a hardcore strategy game, with over 200 upgradable unit types, aggressive AI, and plenty of tactical considerations to bear in mind on every move.

Battle for Wesnoth and Battle for Wesnoth HD are available for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad for 59p/99c/€0.79 each.
