Baseball Superstars 2007 swings onto mobile

Gamevil debuts one-button sports sim

Baseball Superstars 2007 swings onto mobile

Sorry Brits, this is another mobile game that's coming out first in the US. But it sounded so cool, we thought it was worth a mention – particularly as publisher Gamevil's games do eventually come out over here through licensing deals.

Baseball Superstars 2007 is a one-button baseball sim. Yep, forget complex controls: in this game you just need one button to swing your way into the big time.

Gamevil says the game looks and plays like a vintage Super Nintendo game, with five modes including a Homerun Derby.

A big feature is the game's My League mode, which is basically a career option where you create a baseball rookie and then take him to the top. This involves training to boost his stats, and also collecting equipment, sponsorship deals, signing autographs and getting jiggy with the ladies.

In the US, there will also be an online high-scores enabling players to compare their stats. "The title is positioned as a lighter arcade-style baseball game, yet it has the deepest features in its class," says Gamevil USA's Allen Lee.

Omens for a European release? Okay, so we're rubbish at baseball, but the one-button mechanic should give us a chance at getting to grips with it. Gamevil's NOM is being released by Living Mobile over here, so fingers crossed that they – or another publisher – picks up Baseball Superstars 2007 in the near future.
