iPhone is having a Bank Panic

More Game & Watch clones brave the App Store

Bank Panic is obviously a pastiche of the awesome, classic Game & Watch games of the early 80s, but seeing as who it’s not a direct copy of one of the devices (as seen previously in the GW series of games), it might stand a better chance of survival if Nintendo decides to crack down on the App Store.

This delicious satire sees stockbrokers throwing themselves from the top floor of their banks, while you attempt to catch them in a blanket and bounce them to safety.

What’s even more amusing is the game is actually connected to live Dow Jones reports, with the game speed increasing the lower the index falls. So the more stock prices plummet, the harder the game gets. Nice!

The brushed aluminium casing (with a small dint in it for authenticity), screen printed text and faint ghosting of the mock LCD screen round out the cheeky Game & Watch love in perfectly.

We love retro, we love Game & Watch, we love the iPhone – let’s hope this is the beginning of a dirty and shameful love affair with developer Codeon Communications, too.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
