Platform-puzzler Band Together for iPad built by students, overseen by Doom designer

A group of three students has been working with a pair of industry veterans to create Band Together, a quirky new single-screen puzzler for the iPad.

In this game, you have to guide a collection of cardboard creatures called 'Bandies' through a series of 2.5D dioramas.

Using candlelight to rally the Bandies into action, you must lead the once-dormant beings to an exit, without sustaining too many casualties en route.

You see, the levels are littered with a number of homemade traps and obstacles, most of which are covered in deadly Bandie-perforating thumbtacks.

Though the students responsible for this Lemmings-esque brainteaser knocked up Band Together over their summer holidays, the project was overseen by some impressive industry talent, including Warcraft 3 character designer John Chalfant and Doom designer Dave Taylor.

What's more, cult director David Lynch describes the game as "super cool". This man made Twin Peaks. He knows cool.

Band Together is available now for the iPad 2 and the new iPad, priced £2.99 / $4.99.
