Balloon Headed Boy floats back to the iPhone

Mobile hit accompanies developer’s return to handheld gaming

Balloon Headed Boy floats back to the iPhone

Here’s an interesting return to form. Mobile developer Morpheme – responsible for the excellent, Silver Award- winning mobile game, Balloon Headed Boy – rebranded as Gimme5games when it went off to concentrate on web games.

Now, cruising the App Store looking for hot new apps, we come across Gimme5games’ triumphant return to handheld gaming – and it’s brought Balloon Headed Boy with it.

Here’s what Kath thought of the original mobile game:

Balloon Headed Boy feels not dissimilar to Sony's LocoRoco on PSP, in that the levels are simple and colourful, and you don't need to collect everything in them in order to progress. The enemies aren't a main part of the game, either; they're infrequent and easy to kill. Instead, the gameplay focuses on jumping, exploring and collecting.”

This reboot of the franchise that never happened brings Balloon Headed Boy floating back in pretty spectacular style, visually speaking. The iPhone does the already great looking cartoon platformer real justice, and early App Store ratings are looking very favourable.

Spanner Spencer
Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
