In genuinely intriguing alternative to the usual crowd that populate mobile phone poker games, Badaz Poker takes the popular card game and transports it to a Lord of the Rings style fantasy universe. Here you’re more likely to be facing a goblin across the table from you, rather than a po-faced poker pro or (equally likely these days) a barely-clad underwear model.
Set in the Era of Eidolon universe, the usual gambling goes on and up to 4 people can play against each other on a single handset with Texas Hold ‘em rules on offer. Winnings can then be spent on such intellect-expanding things as goblin pin-up posters (the mind boggles) as well as mini-games like the classic Snakes.
The visuals are impressive on the higher-end handsets and the game is uniquely good-looking in a sketchy Dungeons & Dragons kind of way, something that complements the oddball humour on offer.
