Will Backbreaker Football kick off something more?

NaturalMotion pondering new iPhone sports titles

On the day NaturalMotion announced the first content update for its highly successful Backbreaker Football, over on sister site PocketGamer.biz I've been interviewing CEO Torsten Reil about the future of the brand.

He reckons the concept of a mini-game take on classic sports - featuring the same highend graphics and great character animation of Backbreaker - provides plenty of future opportunities.

"We think we can apply the concept to many other genres, including several types of sport," Reil explains.

"Our main criteria are: can we visually differentiate the game both in terms of animation and rendering quality? Can we keep the gameplay simple yet addictive? Does it address a large potential market?

Obvious US-centric sports we'd go for include the likes of ice hockey and basketball, not to mention more lateral options such as martial arts or downhill skiing.

But what would you like to play in a Backbreaker-stylee?
