Backbreaker Football gets update with 10 new waves and two hardcore modes

One of the big successes of the App Store during the autumn has been NaturalMotion's tacklebox simulator Backbreaker Football.

Since its October release, it's been riding high in the charts, and now is getting its first update - which has just been submitted to Apple.

"After Backbreaker went live, we read more than a thousand reviews and listened to all the feedback," said Torsten Reil, NaturalMotion's CEO.

"This free update addresses the two things fans wanted more than anything else: more waves and a greater challenge. The tougher AI, new waves, and enhanced tackles make you play in a whole new style, and it feels great."

The free update consists of a Pro mode, which sees the tacklers given enhanced artificial intelligence to make them harder to avoid. There's also a Hardcode mode, in which you have get past the new Pro tacklers with only one life.

For those players who just want more content however, a sixth challenge has been added, with 10 all-new waves of tacklers and pitch designs for you to overcome.

Finally, the developers have added the Backbreaker Helmet, which can only be unlocked if you can beat their scores.

Backbreaker Football is out now, priced 99c, €0.79, 59p. Hit the Buy It! button to go direct to the App Store.
