Great Scott!

Back to the Future Ep 4 - Double Visions for iPad arrives, Ep 1 goes free for two whole months

Never was the expression 'great Scott' more appropriately applied to a gaming sequel arriving surprisingly soon after its predecessor at the same time as its earliest predecessor goes free.

A mere three weeks after Telltale's Back to the Future Ep 3 for iPad hit the App Store, it's been followed up by Back to the Future Ep 4 – subtitled Double Visions.

This penultimate episode in the series, which is already available in full on PC, Mac, and PS3, is set in 1986, and involves Marty and Citizen Doc Brown creating an invention to prevent the Doc of 1930 from making a catastrophic mistake.

The previous three Back to the Future games have stuttered on iPad (but not on iPad 2), and you can bet your flux capacitor that this one will too. That shouldn't stop you downloading it, though – we've given each of the previous episodes respectable Bronze Awards for their generally solid puzzles and quality writing.

As a sweetener, Telltale has made Back to the Future Ep 1 free until the distant future. Well, until July 31st.
