Back to the Future Episode 1 HD for iPad warps onto the New Zealand App Store

Did you know that if Back to the Future were made in 2011, Marty McFly's 30-year journey back in time would land him in 1981?

If you were, say, five-years-old when Back to the Future came out, 1955 was as distant to you then as 1981 is to a five-year-old now. If you're 30 or over, this fact illustrates just how terrifyingly old are are.

While you chew on that, Marty McFly and Doc Brown make their return in Back to the Future Episode 1 HD, a point-and-click adventure for Apple's iPad.

The game has been available on PC and Mac in December, since when the PC version has accumulated a respectable 75 score on Metacritic.

Introducing an entirely new story, Episode 1 revolves around Marty McFly as he re-acquaints himself with the 1980s.

Back to the Future Episode 1's storyline is a collaboration between Telltale Games and Bob Gale – co-creator and co-writer of the Back to the Future film trilogy. It will be released in full over five monthly instalments.

Back to the Future Episode 1 HD will be available in the UK around midnight for £3.99.
