Three mobile games vying for the prize

Qualcomm reveals BREW Developer Awards nominees

Later this month, Qualcomm is holding its annual BREW conference in San Diego, focusing on everything to do with its BREW mobile platform, including games.

The event includes the BREW Developer Awards, with six categories covering the great and good of mobile content and services.

Three games are up for the Best Game Application prize. Hands-On Mobile's Guitar Hero III Mobile, Konami's Metal Gear Solid Mobile, and Eidos' SolaRola.

It's a high-quality field, so it's hard to predict a winner. Not least because of the three, only SolaRola has come out in Europe so far.

Meanwhile, in the separate Best Up and Coming Application category, one of the nominees is game-related. It's ugenGames Mobile Center from Canadian firm Mobitween.

You can find out more about it here. It describes itself as a user-generated games portal for players, developers and designers to create and upload, customise and share web and mobile Flash games.

Pocket Gamer will be attending BREW 2008 and reporting from the event, so we'll keep you posted on who wins.
