Lawyers, roll out!

Transformers toymaker Hasbro sues Asus over name of its Transformer Prime Android tablet
|

The manufacturer of the Transformers line of toys Hasbro has decided to take legal action against Taiwanese company Asus over its Transformer Prime Android tablet.

So, even though this quad-core Tegra 3 tablet isn't due to launch in the UK and US until early next year, it's already courting controversy.

You see, Hasbro owns four trademarks relating to the Transformers brand, and has a patent pending for the term 'Transformers Prime'. In essence, it's a bit miffed.

Tablets in disguise

After filing its claim, Hasbro released a statement, which reads:

"Hasbro continues to aggressively protect its brands and products and the specific actions we are taking today against Asus underscores yet again Hasbro's willingness to pursue companies who misappropriate our intellectual property for their own financial gain."

Asus has not yet issued a statement on the matter, but the hardware company has 21 days to respond to Hasbro's lawsuit.
