Rumour: Asus Transformer Pad 300 to go on sale 'in about a week' for $379

It looks like Asus isn't content with the range of tablets it already has under its belt, for the Taiwanese manufacturer is currently working on another: the Transformer Pad 300.

This new tablet packs most of the features found in Asus's quad-core Transformer Prime slate, but sports a slightly diminished screen and a thicker frame.

If you can overlook those two concessions, you can grab a 16GB version of the Transformer Pad 300 for $379, with the 32GB model setting you back just $20 more.

That's according to a representative for US retailer J&R, who spoke to website The Verge, anyway. That same representative claimed that his company will have the upcoming tablet in stock "in about a week". The Transformer Pad 300 has also appeared in the French Tablette Store for €499.

The Transformer Pad 300's keyboard dock will cost you an additional $149.
