Artists are well-known for being neurotic, needy, temperamental people, and tending to their emotional needs is every bit as important as keeping them fed and sheltered. If they're not happy, they can't create, and if they can't create they die.

That, or get proper jobs.

Artist Colony puts you in charge of, yes, a colony of artists. There are 15 in all, including sculptors, painters, musicians, and photographers, and the colony is made up of 12 different locations, among them a lake and a studio.

Your job as overseer of this community is to make sure everybody is fed, watered, happy, inspired and, above all, productive. The happier the artists are the more you'll be able to earn from the art they produce, and the more you'll be able to improve the colony in turn.

It's available on the App Store now, and if it's the sort of thing you're into you may want to visit I-play's Facebook page, where it'll be publishing hints and tips soon.

To mark the release of Artist Colony, I-play is giving away a Nintendo DSi. All you need to do to be in the running for it is answer the following question.

Which part of Vincent Van Gogh's body is he reputed to have cut off?

a) his ear
b) his nose
c) his tongue
