It made its name with the iPhone versions of Prey and Duke Nukem, but the latest game from US developer Machineworks Northwest is going for something a little more down to earth and pointy.

In keeping with the American tradition of hunting games - after all, it also developed the 3D Hunting Alaskan Hunt and 3D Hunting Grizzly! Assault games - Archery Challenge puts you in control of a bow and a quiver of arrows.

Then you're let loose on a variety of targets ranging from deer to objects you can set on fire with burning arrows.

That Duke Nukem spirit lives on.

Another nice touch is the Arrow Cam, which you can use to follow the trajectory of your shot, hopefully helping you to improve your bow technique in the process.

Archery Challenge is available now, priced 99c, €0.79, or 59p.
