Russia has sent the UK many marvellous things in recent years. Roman Abramovich. Tatu. Radioactive assassins. And now we're going to get our thumbs on AquaPhone, one of the more innovative mobile games to be produced there.

It's a connected virtual aquarium game developed by Dynamic Pixels, which has so far been downloaded by 200,000 users in Russia and the CIS.

You choose a bunch of fish for your tank and then have to keep them fed and happy, managing their environment to ensure they thrive.

However, the neat stuff involves making purchases within the game using premium SMS text messages (well, making purchases is the cool bit – we're not so keen on premium SMS).

Oh, there's also an online high-score table to see how your fish-rearing skills compare to other players.

Dynamic Pixels says the game is soon heading to the UK, as well as Germany, Italy, India and Portugal, amongst other countries.

Meanwhile, the company is already beavering away on AquaPhone 2, which will apparently allow fish to breed or get into quarrels, as well as let players buy new plants for their tank. Ace.
