Co-founder of Half-Life developer Valve denies rumoured Tim Cook visit

Earlier this week, a rumour began circulating that Apple's CEO Tim Cook had been spotted at the Washington headquarters of Half-Life 2 developer Valve. Naturally, most of the internet went absolutely batty.

Bad news, though, folks: according to Valve co-founder Gabe Newell, Steve Jobs's successor hasn't been anywhere near Bellevue.

"We actually, we all sent mail to each other, going, 'who's Tim Cook meeting with? Is he meeting with you? I'm not meeting with Tim Cook.' So we're... it's one of those rumours that was stated so factually that we were actually confused," Newell said in a podcast interview with website SevenDayCooldown.

Unfortunately, this means there's probably not a joint Apple and Valve console in the works; further Steam apps probably aren't on their way to iOS anytime soon; and Cook still probably owes Newell that fiver.

Still, Valve's managing director does want to forge a closer relationship with Apple: a company that's pretty hit and miss when it comes to gaming.

"We have a long list of things we'd love to see Apple do to support games and gaming better,” Newell stated.
