Apple releasing iOS-influenced Mac OS X Mountain Lion this summer
Game Center, iMessage, and more heading to Apple's desktop OS
The latest version of Apple's Mac operating system, OS X, is set to debut this summer packing several iOS-inspired new features, including the company's social gaming network Game Center.
Once Apple releases OS X Mountain Lion (Apple has dropped the "Mac" from its desktop OS's title) to the masses later this year, you'll be able to challenge your iPhone-, iPod touch-, and iPad-touting buddies to a friendly multiplayer match right from your desktop computer or notebook.
You'll also be able to see how your best scores compare with other players from around the world on global leaderboards.
Furthermore, Apple's social gaming service will recommend new titles based on the ones you and your friends have already played.
More, more, moreOS X Mountain Lion will include several other features you'll be familair with if you have an iPhone or iPad running Apple's iOS 5, such as Notification Center and a Reminders application.
A new Messages app, which will replace the Mac's existing iChat app, will even let you send free iMessages to your buddies' phones and tablets.
