Rumour: Apple to launch 2 iPads in 2012, and 'completely overhaul' iPhone, iPad, iPod lines

The iPhone 4S only launched late last month, but rumours of a new iPhone - as well as new iPads - have already begun to circulate.

According to DigiTimes, Apple will "completely overhaul" its iPhone, iPad, and iPod product lines in 2012, which we presume means a completely new design for each device (think iPhone 3GS to iPhone 4 transition).

While all Apple rumours should be taken with a pinch of salt, an iPhone design refresh is very likely, given the current 4S model looks almost identical to its predecessor.

Take two

If the website's sources are to be believed, however, there won't be just one new iPad released next year. The first of two new rumoured Apple tablets is expected to drop in March 2012, while a second is predicted to land around the third quarter of the year (July - September).

As stated by said sources, the first of these tablets won't be viewed as a true successor to the iPad 2, and will instead act as a minor upgrade. The second 2012 slate release from Apple will be "the real iPad 3".

We imagine it'll be the latter model that gets treated to an all-new look.

We'll keep you updated with the - no doubt - countless rumours between now and an official launch of any new Apple products.
