Steve Jobs pouring all his time into Apple Tablet?
Touchscreen device a labour of love for Apple CEO
Apple CEO Steve Jobs, who has only recently returned to work following a serious illness, is apparently throwing himself into development of the much rumoured Apple Tablet.
In a recent Wall Street Journal article, it was said that, “since his return in late June, [Jobs] has been pouring almost all of his attention into a new touch-screen gadget that Apple is developing.”
According to the article, the reintroduction of Jobs’s hands-on style has caused some tension in the Apple ranks, with some having grown accustomed to a certain level of creative freedom in his absence.
The upcoming device will mark an end to a long production process in which, following the filing of a tablet patent in 2000, “Mr. Jobs killed the project twice in recent years, the first time because the battery life was too short, and the second time because there was insufficient memory”.
The device is expected to look like an enlarged iPhone with a 10 inch screen and a webcam. It will be positioned to bridge the gap between the iPhone and MacBook. There is no word yet on when the Apple Tablet will be officially announced.
