War Dragons, the popular dragon-training mobile adventure from Pocket Gems, is getting a novelisation.

It will be written by Brian Oilu and edited by Michael Rudin, best known in the gaming industry for writing Kevin Spacey led, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, as well as his work on X-Men: Days of Future Past. The book will serve as a prequel to the series.

This isn't the first time a mobile game has received a novel adaption. Hugo Award winning Wheel of Time and Mistborn author, Brandon Sanderson did a fantastic job filling in the gaps between Infinity Blade 1 and 2 for Chair Entertainment a while back.

The likes of Deus Ex and Warcraft have also received novels based on the games.

Pocket Gems is also holding a contest in-game, creatively titled The Great Contest, which will give the War Dragons community a chance to actually feature in the story.

The team names of the six winning guilds in the competition will be honoured once the in-game event draws to a close.

The Great Contest is part of the brand new Ice Expansion update which launched on December 8th. This includes improvements to value packs, balance tweaks and further improvements to the in-game content.

The book will apparently launch later this year - though they haven't got much time left - and will be a free download on Amazon, Apple and Google.
