The App Army Assembles: Mimpi Dreams - It's quite fetching

Each week, we ask members of our App Army for their impressions of the latest releases on mobile.

This week we're looking at Mimpi Dreams - a relaxing, puzzle-solving platformer now available on iOS.

Sjoerd - From the moment you start the game and play a few levels, you immediately feel the dev's passion and love for the project.

Chase - Mimpi Dreams is everything I wanted it to be. It's a beautiful, interactive platformer where you control the terrain, and it's really fun to play.

James - This game is so very fun. I like the levels, the game is incredibly smooth, and it's all very peaceful.

Sjoerd - There's a left and right button at the bottom of the screen used to control the dog, and a standard jump button which works really well. You can interact with the environment to solve puzzles as well, which is really neat. James - I love this dog. He's so cute, and the graphical style is really amazing. The controls are on point, the puzzles are clever, and the game is unafraid to experiment and change, which really impresses me. Chase - Just finished this. It was very short, not very challenging, and no full story. But it was beautiful and fun. There were a few sections which took a few attempts, but for what it is, it is a very fun puzzler platformer. The dev has done amazingly well considering this is such a small game.

Sjoerd - Agreed, it's not very challenging, but I think it's intended for a younger audience. That doesn't mean others can't enjoy it though.

James - Yeah, although some of the later levels did tax me a little bit. Chase - I like that in every level the dog is helping someone, and that every level is part of a new world, yet the game is so seamless. Olivier - I loved the first game, and I love Mimpi Dreams. The graphics are simple and beautiful. The music is soft and pleasant.

There are five levels in total, though the difficulty is quite low. Mimpi Dreams is reactive and easy to play due to the well placed buttons. The dreams are quite diverse and entertaining. My only regret is that the game isn't longer.

Chase - The developers did say they were making more levels. I can't wait for that. This really was a great game. Olivier - The hint system is well thought out, even if children will use it more. That said, the game is both for children and adults as it just provides a nice accessible overall experience. Mike - I'm loving the game. The graphics and music are great. The puzzles aren't that hard, but overall I'd say this platform-esque point and clicker is a winner in almost every way possible. Sjoerd - Every couple of seconds you think 'Wow, that's so creative' and 'This looks awesome'. The game is full of uniqueness and love. Every element is well thought out and perfectly executed. It's a perfect example of what all games should be like. James - The level design is clever and the puzzles are well set out. The controls are perfect for touchscreen, and the changes in the levels are really cool.

The background is always changing, making the environments refreshing and interesting. Overall, this is an extremely well made mobile game that's plenty of fun.

Quincy - It's a wonderful ride while it lasts. Everything has improved since the original game with Mimpi having more emotions and interactions. It's like playing Tiny Thief, but with a dog.

I'm also really loving the environments and the characters in them. It's a real treat for everyone and definitely worth the wait. It lived up to my expectations for sure.

GGod Hand - Mimpi Dreams is a fun, cute platformer. The game does a lot right. It's simple, but has solid controls. The art design is full of vivid colours. The puzzles aren't hard going, but always fun.

It will never frustrate the impatient gamer since the game has many checkpoints and hints. The lovable Mimpi brings a sense of joy when he interacts with characters, which is probably my favourite thing about the game.

There are a few minor shortcomings. It is too short, and probably too easy for an experienced gamer. You can easily beat it in one sitting. The game could also use some music since the worlds are almost completely void of sound. But overall, it's a joy to play and will keep you smiling throughout.

Quincy - It's a feel good, peaceful journey that never loses its charm. You're going to remember this one for being relaxing and refreshing compared to the usual mix of AppStore releases.
