Towers of Everland is an Apple Arcade exclusive that provides a pretty unique take on the medieval-style video game. As usual, you select from a few different classes of characters. After that, you enter first-person mode once you've entered the castle.

Once inside, your goal is to get through all of the floors with the end goal of reaching the roof. You can loot gear along the way as you clear each room. It seems pretty straightforward, but its overall setup actually has a puzzle feel to it.

Obviously, room-clearing is a part of the experience and it's not an open-world type of game where you can go wherever you want. You do have some freedom, but the goal here is to get to the top of the castle. Here are a few other things you should know about Towers of Everland.

It's Exclusively First-Person

Towers of Everland three things to know

One unique thing about Towers of Everland is that it's one of the few medieval-style games that's exclusively played from a first-person perspective. A legendary game like Skyrim gave you an option to play in first-person but you were able to switch to third-person too.

This gives you a fun perspective as you traverse and climb the castles and provides a more personal experience. It also allows you to stay on your P's and Q's, as you might need to use the map to pinpoint where enemies might be before going through a door or entering a room.

If you aren't used to first-person, don't worry. It's pretty easy to get used to. Enemies movements aren't too fast so you'll have time to react accordingly. It's a pretty neat way to experience Everland's graphical style and castles.

Movement is Like a Checkers Board

Animation in Towers of Everland is a bit different from other first-person games. Many games that operate from this perspective have more of a free-flow approach, but here, it's a bit stiffer. You can move straight, back, left and right, so you can't run diagonally if that makes sense.

Keep in mind, this isn't a bad thing at all, it's just part of the game's strategic nature. However, it's just something I thought you should know before firing the game up, because some may be a tad disappointed about this if they don't understand what the game is trying to do.

You still have freedom, it's just slightly constraint. And yes, of course, you can still beat the tails of your enemies as you traverse and ascend the structures. It won't take long to get used to the movements in the game and frankly, it's part of the experience.

You Can Now Create a Character

So, it's pretty easy to think, 'What's the big deal about this?' Well, Towers of Everland didn't have character creation when it was first released. At first, you chose between four different classes which included Rogue, Mage, City Guard, and Stone Golem (Yes, a stone golem).

Now, you can create your castle ascending warrior from the ground up. You'll be able to change hairstyles, hair colour, choose your class, weapons, and more (and no, you can't be a stone golem, sadly). This allows you to create a character that feels like you.

Of course, you can use the default builds if you want as well. Heck, you can have two separate saves if you'd like. One for the default character and another for your created one. This newer feature allows players to get a little extra creativity in the game.
