App Store redesign looks likely after Apple buys app discovery platform Chomp
Helping discover the undiscovered
It could be argued that while the App Store is a vast and vastly successful place, it's also rather difficult to find 99 per cent of what's actually on offer.
Top pick lists and highest-grossing Top 25s mean that only a handful of the 500,000+ apps available from Apple's store actually receive significant downloads. If you can't get into the elite Apple lists, then you're going to struggle.
However, a new deal this week may be set to change all that.
Munch, munchTechCrunch is reporting that Apple has acquired app search and discovery platform Chomp for an undisclosed amount of money.
Chomp's entire outfit and staff are moving over to Apple headquarters, where they will begin work on revamping the App Store. This would seemingly confirm rumours of a redesign later in the year.
We can't wait to see the impact it will have on all our favourite 'hidden' iOS gems.
