Anthill: Tactical Trail Defense was an instant hit when it scuttled onto the App Store last month.

Garnering thousands of user reviews and an average user rating of 4.5 on iTunes, this insectoid spin on the tower defence formula breathed new life into what some perceive to be a tired genre.

Developer Image & Form intends to capitalise on its success with a new update, offering fans even more ways to defend their queen.

King of the hill

Version 2.0 brings with it a slew of new enemies, Facebook integration, and a handful of iOS bug fixes.

The most significant feature of the update is Infinity Mode, which charges you with defending the anthill against waves of increasingly aggressive attackers. As your six-legged foes become faster and more dexterous, you'll have to constantly adapt your defensive strategy.

“We really are offering endless replay value in what was already a great game,” says Brjann Sigurgeirsson, CEO at Image & Form.

But he would say that.

To celebrate the launch of the update, Anthill: Tactical Trail Defense is currently available for the discounted price of 69p/99c.
