Angry Birds set to land on BlackBerry PlayBook

First time on BlackBerry for Rovio's hit; rumours suggest summer launch

Angry Birds set to land on BlackBerry PlayBook

Rovio's Angry Birds is set to invade yet another format this summer, with BlackBerry's new PlayBook tablet the latest target of the feathered furies.

This was confirmed at yesterday's BlackBerry World keynote. "Big news just announced! Angry Birds is coming to the #BlackBerry PlayBook!" enthused the official BlackBerry Blog on its Twitter feed.

Details are scant, though it's been rumoured that the game will be released in the summer. The PlayBook version is the latest in a long line of Angry Birds ports - the sales phenomenon will be flying onto Windows Phone 7 in just three weeks' time.

Perhaps surprisingly, this represents the game's debut on a BlackBerry device. The PlayBook, described by its maker as "the world's first professional-grade tablet" was released in the US last month, though we're still awaiting confirmation of its UK launch date.

Chris has been gaming since the age of five, though you wouldn't think it to see him play. Thankfully, his knowledge of the medium is as impressive as his unerring ability to fail at Angry Birds.
