Android Market is Google's take on the iPhone App Store

But it's not quite finished yet

Android Market is Google's take on the iPhone App Store

If you're an iPhone owner, you'll (hopefully) know all about the App Store, which lets you buy games and apps either from your iPhone or your computer.

What if you're hanging on for the first handsets to use Google's Android operating system though? Well, Google just unveiled its version of the App Store, called Android Market.
Essentially, it'll do the same thing: offer a way for Android users to get their hands on games and apps.

Google claims it'll be even more open than the App Store though, saying it'll be as easy for developers to upload their apps as putting a video on YouTube.

You can see some screenshots above, and find out more details here.

However, Android Market will only be in beta when the first Android handsets go on sale this Autumn - it's possible that only free apps will be allowed initially, according to Google.
