Androidpolice has reported that unique Android device activations are up to 900,000 a day: an increase of around 50,000 a day since the last time the figure was reported at the Mobile World Congress in February, and almost double the number of activations per day at this time last year.

The information comes hot from the Twitter account of Google's senior mobile VP Andy Rubin, who's also been quick to quash any rumours that he might be on his way out of the search giant's mobile team.

Rubin denied and debunked the internet whisperings about his position on his Google+ page (talk about staying on message), before reposting the comments on Twitter, and throwing in the activation stats for good measure.

Whilst the growth in activation numbers isn't as impressive as the stratospheric rises that Google was enjoying in the early part of 2011, to have close to a million new Androids being turned on every day is still a mighty accomplishment, and letting everyone know about it on the eve of Apple's WWDC keynote is a pretty smart move too.
