Zombies, Run! is about to go the way of The Walking Dead.

In the second season of this post-apocalyptic fitness app, you'll be able to download new missions and side-quests every week.

"The entire Zombies, Run! community will be able to experience the story together," developer Six to Start explains on its blog.

"With all the discussion, analysis, and speculation (and official podcasts) that comes with it."

Never played Zombies, Run! before?

Well, it's an exercise app where you complete missions, scavenge supplies, and evade zombies by going out for a run.

The game's story is told through radio messages, which are piped in through your headphones. When you get back home, you can use your new supplies to improve your post-apocalyptic outpost.

Season 2 will be a free update to the original game, and it will eventually include more than 60 missions (which is double the length of the first adventure).

You'll get seven new missions for free at launch, but you'll need to pay for the rest. You can buy missions individually, or get a season pass to subscribe to the lot.

There's no exact price on the season pass yet, but it will be cheaper than the original app (so, less than £5.49 / $7.99).

Oh, and get this: some missions will be available for free - but only for a limited time after they're released. That means if you can keep up with the schedule, you'll get some of the game for free.

But, Adrian Hon, CEO and co-founder of Six to Start, tells Pocket Gamer that you'll probably want to get the season pass, anyway.

The pass "lets you replay missions whenever you want", and "provides access to special side-quests - which won't be free".

Season 2 of Zombie, Run! will debut in the spring. iOS gamers will get it first, but Hon explains that "we're working as hard as we can to make sure that Android users won't be left waiting for too long."

This won't represent the series finale for this Kickstarter-funded game, though.

"People want more types of missions, like location-based missions and multiplayer features," Hon says. Six to Start will look into those this year.
