Dark thriller Yesterday is getting a sequel called Yesterday Origins, due out in 2016

Pendulo Studios has announced a follow-up to its dark thriller Yesterday. It's called Yesterday Origins and will be coming to iOS and Android.

It'll be a point-and-click adventure as with the first game, but this time it'll be realised in 3D. The cartoon look of the first game (and Pendulo's other games) will be retained, apparently, so don't worry about that.

Pendulo also noted that you'll be able to enjoy the story of Yesterday Origins even if you haven't played the first game.

"It continues the adventures of the hero, John Yesterday, in the modern age simultaneously with the linked events of the Spanish Inquisition period," writes Pendulo.

Unfortunately, that's all we know about the plot of the game for now. Let's just hope that it holds together better than Yesterday's story did.

Our reviewer described it as being "as dark as a summer's day and as funny as a kick in the teeth. The puzzles are poorly designed and the story barely even makes sense."

So, yeah, not the best. We'll find out how Yesterday Origins holds up when it comes out in 2016.
