Warhammer 40,000 Warpforge: Blackstone, Crystals & Gold currency guide

With Warhammer 40,000 Warpforge, the new card battler from Everguild, you won’t just be concentrating on winning battles but also on gathering new cards. You can unlock these over time in campaign mode, but you can also buy and collect new cards and more via currencies.

Given that Warhammer 40,000 Warpforge is a CCG at heart, while it's entirely possible to avoid real-world spending, you'll likely end up utilising currencies such as crystals at some point to pick out an important card. Or engage in draft mode with Blackstone in order to unlock even greater rewards for completing a run of battles against other players.

But as always, forewarned is forearmed, and understanding what your currencies are used for and where to spend them is key to maximising enjoyment and minimising frustration. Here’s our introduction to the various currencies that you’ll encounter in Warhammer 40,000 Warpforge, what they're used for and how to acquire them!

Crystals

Your basic currency, these pinkish crystals can be spent on acquiring new cards from the store. You can earn crystals through the completion of quests and tasks, such as tutorials in practice mode and winning battles. They're valuable in that they can be utilised for building out your deck without needing to purchase booster packs.

Blackstone

Appearing as pieces of, well, black stone, Blackstone is a currency used for the Draft game mode. This is a sort of survivor mode where players draft a deck and battle it out with other players. After three defeats their run ends, however, the longer the run goes on, the greater the rewards are. You'll only earn premium rewards when playing with Blackstone however.

Gold

Your primary premium currency, Gold is purchased through the store with real-world money and can then be exchanged for booster packs, cosmetics and packs of other currency such as Blackstone and Crystals.

And that explains all the currencies that should be available from the launch of Warhammer 40,000 Warpforge. Hopefully, this will help clear up any uncertainty and let you know ahead of time where to spend your money - if at all, while still having fun and saving on frustration. And for new players, there is a pretty useful Warpforge guide which will teach you all you need to know to be at least mildly successful.
