Every Warhammer game for mobile, explained
All 15 of them
It feels like only yesterday that there weren't any Warhammer or Warhammer 40,000 games on the App Store. And now it's almost full to the brim with the damn things.
And there are more coming. Space is being made to fit them in. Skaven are digging tunnels, Black Templars are releasing aerial bombardments, the corpse of The Emperor guides them all into position from his soul-fed golden throne.
I probably know too much about Warhammer. Which makes me the perfect person to help explain everything you need to know about all the Games Workshop games that are out now or are coming soon.
Gotta catch 'em all. Then use their energy to feed the psychic beacon produced by your carrion ruler. Yay!
Warhammer 40,000 - Out nowOh lord there are so many Warhammer 40,000 games. There are more than you can count, if you can't count very high. Here, in no particular order, are all of them that are available now. Or all of the ones I could remember anyway.
Space HulkStompy Terminators mash Genestealer face on warp-twisted space-wrecks.
An adaptation of one of the most beloved Games Workshop boardgames. It's super pretty, but unfortunately it's not super great.
Warhammer 40,000: Deathwatch - Tyranid InvasionThe first of two Rodeo games on this list. This one sees you taking control of an elite squad of Space Marines in turn-based battles to the death with a Tyranid horde. And it's really rather good.
Warhammer 40,000: ArmageddonA tile-based massive battler that sees Orks getting in a scrap with the Imperial Guard and Space Marines in one of the biggest wars in 40K lore.
Deep and complex, if you're a fan of the tabletop game, this is reasonably close.
The Horus Heresy: Drop AssaultTechnically set in 30K rather than 40K, this one takes one of the pivotal moments in the imagined future history of man and turns it into a Clash of Clans clone. So there's that.
Warhammer 40,000: Space WolfOne of the better 40K games. This is a turn-based fight that uses a clever deck building mechanic and sees you laying cards to move your lupine death machines around. Also has some impressive death animations.
Warhammer 40,000: CarnageA side-scrolling hack and slasher that sees you ploughing through a bunch of Orks as a Space Marine. Simple button-mashing fun with loads of gore and silly weapons.
Warhammer 40,000: Storm of VengeanceA lane-based defence game. Imagine Plants vs Zombies but with Space Marines and Orks instead of plants and zombies.
Plus you get to be the Dark Angels for a change which is nice. Even though they're probably traitors.
Warhammer 40,000 - Coming soonThere are fewer 40K games coming out soon. So that's good, because I almost lost the will to live when I was writing the first bit of this list. Okay, here we go. For The Emperor!
Warhammer 40,000: RegicideIt's chess. Let's not beat around any space bushes here. Digital chess with 40K characters instead of regular chess pieces. I'm sure it'll be lovely.
Eisenhorn: XenosThis one's actually quite interesting. Based on the series of books by Dan Abnett it follows Inquisitor Eisenhorn as he fights aliens.
Expect third person action and maybe get your hopes up a little bit.
Warhammer – Out now
Warhammer pickings are a little thinner on the ground at the moment. Well, thinner when compared to its futuristic big brother. But there are a few. Here are the ones that are already available.
Warhammer QuestThe second Rodeo game on this here list. This one's set in dank caverns and smelly sewers and sees you leading a party of adventurers in search of loot and glory.
Swing swords, cast spells, have a lovely old time.
Snotling FlingIt's basically third person Angry Birds, but you're tossing small Orcs at old-fashioned buildings from catapults. Because sure, why not. Probably not as terrible as it sounds.
Warhammer: Arcane MagicA super fresh brand new entry to the list. This one is a huge, gorgeous looking take on the magical battles in the Warhammer world.
It's expensive, it's sexy, and it's got wizards in it. What more do you want?
Blood BowlThis one counts. It's set in the Warhammer universe. Turn-based super-violent American Football with a swords and sorcery twist. Not particularly good though unfortunately.
Other
Those games that don't quite fit into one of the two universes, but still very much bear the Games Workshop hallmarks. And logo.
And are based on Games Workshop games. One of which I had but it went mouldy.
TalismanA game in which you can get turned into a frog. Quest around a variety of different lands grabbing gold and weapons in an attempt to take over the world.
Pretty solid, but the game it's based on has always been a little wonky.
Chainsaw Warrior and Chainsaw Warrior: Lord of NightA pair of games based on a spectacularly tough solo boardgame that was about trying to stay alive in a zombie-infested New York. Still pretty fresh and exciting, still super hard to finish.
