Toon Blast tips and cheats - Blasting through the levels

Blast through all the blocks in your path
Product: Toon Blast | Publisher: Peak Games | Format: Android, iPhone, iPad
Toon Blast is the latest block-buster (literally) to hit Google Play and the App Store, and it's pulling people in with a quick and addictive approach to block puzzling.

Blocks grouped together with the same colour blocks can be broken apart - you'll only need a pair to break them.

But there are plenty of other blocks that let you use a variety of special items and powers. There are rockets, bombs, and even disco balls - and with new objective and block types, the game remains interesting.

If you want to blast through Toon Blast's levels and grab as many chests as possible, then we've got all the advice you need right here.

More than just blocks

When you first get started in Toon Blast you'll be merrily tapping away at all the combinations you come across - and that's not a bad strategy long term, either - but one thing you'll want to start learning very quickly are the block combinations that will make special blocks.

Five blocks is where it starts getting interesting - five blocks will turn into a rocket which will clear either a column or a row.

Seven blocks will earn you a bomb, which destroy anything surrounding them. Nine blocks will morph into a disco ball that'll wipe out all blocks of the same colour.

You'll be able to tell when you have enough for a special block, as the symbol on the blocks will change to a rocket, bomb or disco ball.

Big combos

Those special blocks can be handier than the simple boosts they give you at first, especially if you combine them.

A bomb combined with a rocket is one of the best solutions - it'll wipe out three surrounding rows and columns, even taking out any special objective related blocks, like balloons or bubbles.

But by far the best is the disco ball combined with a bomb - this will turn all blocks the colour of the disco ball into bombs, destroying most of the grid.

Getting those chests

If you want to stock up on coins and boosters without spending your cold hard cash, you're going to want to unlock chests. One chest is unlocked after every ten levels you clear, but another chest - the Star Chest - can be unlocked faster.

The Star Chest will unlock after every 20 stars you earn - with a maximum of 3 obtainable in each level once you earn 50,000 points. You can unlock these chests after just 7 levels, as opposed to 10 for the other chest.

In order to maximise the number of stars you earn in each level, you want to leave yourself with as many moves as possible.

Each move you have leftover once you've completed your objective will transform a random block into a rocket, awarding you 2,000 points before the rocket even sets off.

More lives, and free!

One of the most helpful aspects of Toon Blast is its community, and you can join one of these communities by joining a team.

Teams in Toon Blast are very casual - players can chat to each other for advice, and ask for extra lives. Giving players a life won't actually cost you your own, and will instead award you with a coin - it's a win-win.

Call out for extra lives in your Team whenever you start running low - they can give you up to 5 every few hours, keeping you playing for much longer.

Use boosters responsibly

Boosters are super tempting - they're items you can use during your puzzle to help you along your way, and some of them can be incredibly useful.

The boxing glove will clear out a full row for you, while an anvil can clear a full column. Hammers will destroy single blocks, and the dice will shuffle all of the blocks in the grid around - good for when you're struggling for good moves to make.

You also have a selection of boosters to begin stages with, but these are less useful. They automatically turn a block into a bomb, rocket or disco ball. These can help, but the random nature of where they appear can make them less effective.
