An arcade version of Lara Croft’s nightmares

Tomb Heroes is as challenging as it is addictive

Tomb Heroes, which was recently featured on Google Play’s front page, gives mobile gamers more of ZPlay’s brand of addictive arcade action. It’s up to you to fight vampires, skeletons, mummies and ghosts in the crypts of ancient civilizations around the world – whilst staying alive for as long as possible.

You can play as nine different heroes including Rambo, Ninja, Ranger, Terminator and Iron Man among others, and embark on a treacherous tour of tombs from Egypt to China. Collect gems and unlock characters along the way – but be careful a dangling spider or a booby trap doesn’t catch you.

One of the biggest challenges in Tomb Heroes is getting the hang of the mechanics. You have to tap the side of the screen in the direction you want to shoot, but the recoil sends you hopping backwards. Shoot right, hop left – and vice versa. That means you have to time your shots so that you don’t send yourself backwards into the arms of a vampire who hasn’t had his breakfast. However, hop directly on top of a baying beasty and you’ll vanquish them. It’s all about timing.

If you’ve played ZPlay’s Bump Hero, you’ll find the stylized, colourful and retro graphics in Tomb Heroes familiar. There’s also a throwback synth soundtrack to tickle your nostalgia buds.

The game is now available for free on both iOS and Android.
