After the thrill and joy of the bubbly Fates set has been put to rest, the newest Teamfight Tactics set has been revealed: Reckoning. Laying on the complete opposite spectrum in terms of vibe, the TFT Set 5 features a rather dark thematic of the battle between good and evil, light and dark, and everything in between.

With a new TFT Set 5, come different team comps, new mechanics, items and much more. And if you have ever wondered what some fun team compositions to start playing in Teamfight Tactics: Reckoning are, I'm here to help you out. I've played quite a few TFT games in Set 5 and had a chance to experiment with some of the units. As you might already know, units like Vladimir, Kalista, Lissandra, Morgana and Brand already saw a spot in TFT Fates.

In this latest set, however, we won't get to see them shining in the same light. They have been completely revamped, and might be as strong as before (or might not), or even stronger!

Reckoning brings about new mechanics

We won't have the same Chosen mechanic that we've had in Fates, but instead, we will have to think well about the teams that we'll make because it will all matter, the more we advance into the game. Players will be able to join a side by selecting their favourite God-King character (Darius or Garen), who will get stronger according to the units a player has deployed.

In a way, that's similar to Chosen - it's all about one unit to rule them all. However, it's worlds apart in terms of gameplay. Up to the point where you get your 5-cost units, you could drop a lot of HP and even possibly lose the game. But let's not get demoralized yet! It's the beginning of a new set, so we should check out what are some great team comps to start you off in TFT Set 5: Reckoning.

In TFT Set 5, some units won't cost you a dime but...

... but they will cost you HP instead.

Units like Teemo (which we've seen in Fates have the Sharpshooter/Spirit trait) have now been upgraded to 5-cost, but with a twist. Teemo doesn't cost you any Gold but will take your Life instead. That's something that players will seek to adapt into their gameplay and turn into a most profitable scenario. Little Devil Teemo will definitely be among some of the best teams in TFT Reckoning, but for now, I'll avoid placing him in any team (permanently) until I can truly grasp the extent to which you can play him successfully.

Take a look below at some starter TFT Reckoning team comps.

1
Aphelios Carry - a.k.a. 200 years

TFT Nightbringer Aphelios

We all know the good ol' Aphelios balance issues - or should I say the perfectly balanced champion? This sparked a painfully hilarious meme, and now that's escalated to a whole new level. On the bright side though, Aphelios is equally broken in TFT. That is, when you play him, not your opponents.

With this comp you want to buff his MR as much as possible and pair him up with a bunch of Nightbringers to really give him additional sustainability. With Morgana as your second carry, you'll basically keep most of your enemies at bay while Aphelios quickly melts them away.

Bear in mind that this comp is one of the best, but it's also easy to lose before you actually get Aphelios and Morgana if you aren't playing your early game right.

Units:
Aphelios, Morgana, Darius, Lulu, Ryze, [ Kindred, Diana, Rell ] (those 3 can be swapped out for other units until you get them)

Main carry units:
Aphelios [Bloothirster / Riskthirster, Caustic Deathblade / Deathblade, Guinsoo's Rageblade]
Morgana [Guardian Angel, Morellonomicon / Mor-evil-lonomicon]

2
Draven? Draaaaaven!

TFT set 5

Draven's been one of the most consistent carries in TFT, ever since he first stepped foot into the game. Now, much like in the previous sets, Draven has the ability to solo carry any game if given the right tools. Long story short, as long as you place down units that have the ability to buff Draven, he'll carry you no matter what.

An ideal team for Draven would be one where you can activate his Forgotten trait, but also Legionnaire for the Attack Speed. Your best bet is to go with just the first one (3 Forgotten and 2 Legionnaire) because that'll allow for more defensive combos to keep him alive.

At the start, until you get Draven, you can go for another carry, such as Vayne, and instead of a second Legionnaire, you can get a Ranger. If you make the items on Vayne and then switch her out for Draven, you've got yourself a pretty solid early game team comp.

Units:
Draven, Thresh, Ryze, Rell, Diana, Nautilus, Lux, Mordekaiser
Draven, Thresh, Ryze, Rell, Katarina, Hecarim, Viego, Kayle
Draven, Ryze, Diana, Lux, Kayle, Darius, Taric, Viego (this is difficult to pull off because of the many high cost units)

Main carry units:
Draven [Bloodthirster, Infinity Edge, Guardian Angel, Runaan's Hurricane / Runaan's Untamed Hurricane - choose 3 of these]
Diana [Frozen Heart / Frozen Dark Heart - anything tanky that will debuff the enemies]
Ryze [Spectral Spear of Shojin - for the permanent CC]

Dawnbringers bring... easy wins

Yes, you heard it right - Dawnbringers will bring you some easy wins, as long as you get at least 6 of them. Now all you need to do is find a couple of units with great carry potential. Some of my favourites would be Karma and Nidalee since you can go two ways about the team.

With Karma as the main carry you'll need to make your items on another unit until you successfully pull her. That unit could be Nidalee, Lux, Kha'Zix, Victor or anything else that will come. Once you get Karma, you'll transfer all the items to her. Another viable option would be Nidalee since her damage can be insane and you won't need an item to help her sustain.

Youl goal will be to get 6 Dawnbringers ASAP, and then try to find a couple of additional synergies that will go well together, such as Revenant, Invoker, Renewer.

Units:
Karma, Nidalee, Riven, Soraka, Gragas, Garen, Volibear, Ivern (You can use Kha'Zix until you get Karma, but build AD items for Nidalee instead of AP for Karma)

Main Carry Units:
Karma [Blue Buff, Jeweled Gauntlet, Rabadon's Deathcap / Rabadon's Caustic Deathcap]
Nidalee [Quicksilver, Guinsoo's Rageblade, Infinity Edge / Sacrificial Infinity Edge]

4
Mordekaiser, the unsung hero

TFT set 5 - infernal mordekaiser

Does anyone remember the old Mordekaiser in set 3, who used to 1v9 anyone on the board with the Dark Star trait and a couple of items? Well, this Morde is not far from it. If you pull off a 3-star Mordekaiser then you probably won't need anything else anyway, since he's super powerful by default.

With this build your aim is to rush 8 Legionnaires, so you'll NEED Kayle. Then, all you need to do is give some items to Morde and you can sit back and watch the games unfold.

Units:
Mordekaiser, Diana (with Legionnaire Emblem - Normal Spatula + Bow), Yasuo, Aatrox, Draven, Kayle, Kalista, Riven

Main Carry Units:
Mordekaiser [Sacrificial Gauntlet / Jeweled Gauntlet, Hextech Gunblade, Quicksilver]
Diana [Frozen Heart / Frozen Dark Heart, Ionic Spark , Legionnaire Emblem]

5
The Yordle Pain Train

TFT set 5 team comp - Teemo

Yordles can really pack a punch, especially if you give all the right items to all the right units. There are two main ways to play the infamous Yordle comps, and depending on how well your econ is going in the early game, you can choose one or the other.

If your econ is great, then you can try to 3-star Kennen and then rush to level 8 or 9. That will grant you access to easier Heimerdinger and Teemo, which are going to be your main carries.

If your econ is not that great, then you can go for the... budget version. You'll main Ziggs, and go with Kennen and Kled as your other carries. Either way, it's going to be a painful pain train.

For the first team comp, if you pull an early Heimerdinger, you'll give him all your items and if you pull Teemo, then that'll be your main carry. None of these seem to work? Then just slap a Morello onto Kennen and watch him zoom around the battlefield.

Want a safer option? Then try to get an early 3-star Ziggs and give him all the Attack Speed in the world. He'll zap all the enemies down before you even realize it.

Units:
Kennen, Heimer, Teemo, Garen, Kindred, Volibear, Ivern, Taric
Kennen, Ziggs, Heimer, Teemo, Kled, Volibear, Ivern, Lulu

Main Carry Units:
Heimer [Guardian Angel, Guinsoo's Rageblade, Sacrificial Gauntlet / Jeweled Gauntlet]
Teemo [Spear of Shojin, Guardian Angel, Jeweled Gauntlet]
Kennen [Morellonomicon / Mor-evil-lonomicon, Locket of the Iron Solari]
Ziggs [Statikk Stiletto x2, Guinsoo's Rageblade]
Kled [Runaan's Untamed Hurricane x2]
