Namco Bandai's RPG Tales of the World: Tactics Union will be out in July as an Android exclusive

The next instalment in Namco Bandai's Tales RPG series has been announced... and it's heading for a platform that you might not expect. Rather than surfacing on consoles as per usual, Tales of the World: Tactics Union is coming to Android devices.

The game is a tactical RPG, in which you move the heroes around a grid-based battlefield. Siliconera reports that this forthcoming title features characters from a variety of past Tales games, such as Lloyd Irving from Tales of Symphonia and Guy Cecil from Tales of the Abyss.

Tales of the World: Tactics Union will also feature new characters in the form of Terun and Nahato, who both look like something straight out of Pokemon. Essentially, if you're a big Tales fan, this is shaping up to be a dream come true.

Here's the kicker (or perhaps the turn-off, depending on how you see it): Tactics Union will be a free-to-play game with in-app purchases, such as new weapons and special moves.

It's due for release in Japan on July 2nd. Hopefully, we'll get a translation soon afterwards, although judging by the speed at which past Tales games have been translated over to English, that may take a while.
