Survival horror gets pixelated and Lovecraftian in the upcoming Catequesis for Android

Meeting your girlfriend's parents for the first time is a harrowing experience during which most of us simply need to remember to be polite and not drink too much.

In Survival Horror Story: Catequesis, the hero Daniel faces a decidedly more awkward first meeting with his girlfriend Sophie's family.

This is because Sophie's father has an incurable disease, and the only way to save him is to perform a suspicious religious rite lead by Sophie's equally suspicious neighbor, Isabel.

Being polite, the helpful Daniel offers to go along with Sophie and Isabel because, hey - what could possibly go wrong?

Plenty, as it turns out, and that's where Catequesis takes off running.

Rite or wrong?

Inspired by 8- and 16-bit action RPGs, Catequesis (that's Spanish for catechism) presents an unsettling pastiche of Japanese horror, Catlholic religious traditions, and demonic forces of a positively Lovecraftian scale.

The focus on the indie horror title will be on its powerful and immersive story, although we're quite fond of its modern take on pixelated graphics and its chiptune covers of classical masterpieces by Isaac Albéniz.

We don't have a specific release date for Survival Horror Story: Catequesis just yet, but the developers anticipate a release on PC, Mac, Linux, and Android this fall.
