Time to go bananas

Super Monkey Ball 2: Sakura Edition will roll onto Android smartphones on March 14th

The Android version of iOS game Super Monkey Ball 2: Sakura Edition is scheduled to launch on the Google Play Store on March 14th, according to information posted on Sega's website.

Last month, we brought you the news that Sega's simian platformer was rolling towards Android smartphones, and there were rumours circulating that an Xperia Play-optimised version was also in the works.

As for the game itself, we did enjoy Super Monkey Ball 2: Sakura Edition on the iPad, but it's ever-so-slightly-wonky controls were an issue.

Let's hope that the tilt controls have been tightened up somewhat in this Android port of the game, and that Xperia Play owners can take advantage of the hardware's physical controls in the very near future.

Although some of you may have already noticed that Super Monkey Ball 2: Sakura Edition is listed on the UK Google Play Store, it won't actually be available to download in this country until March 14th.
