Touch version of Super Meat Boy not a remake of console version

Team Meat to scrap project and move on if not satisfied with results

Touch version of Super Meat Boy not a remake of console version

After talk of an Android version of Super Meat Boy surfaced earlier this week, Team Meat has taken to Twitter to clear up a few rumours surrounding the portable versions of its tenderised platformer.

In the first of a series of six quickfire tweets on the subject, Team Meat stated that it is "prototyping Super Meat Boy for touch devices" but that the prototype "will not play like SMB."

The company went on to say, though, that the game will be a "re-envisioning of SMB remade from scratch for touch", rather than a straight port, which should come as somewhat of a relief for those that struggled with the rock-hard platformer with a physical controller (pretty much everyone, then).

The chopping block

However, Team Meat has no qualms when it comes to canning touch versions of Super Meat Boy "if it turns out it sucks".

"It won't be a simple game like "doodle jump" it will be a larger more traditional game...if you liked SMB I'm sure you will enjoy this (if it's good enough to continue on)."

After dismissing the iPhone as a possible home for its next project last year, Team Meat's co-CEO Edmund McMillan recently stated that it could end up on Apple's platform in the future.
