Sleeping Beast Games's Spaceteam is brilliant.
It ranks among my favourite uses of multiple iOS and Android devices, and is a perfect example of the ingenuity of some of the developers who work in the mobile sphere.
So, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise to find that Sleeping Beast's Henry Smith has found an intriguing way to use crowdfunding platform Kickstarter.
Instead of looking for funding for a specific product, he's asking for a year's worth of funding to keep making interesting, accessible games that are free for everyone to play.
The project is called "The Spaceteam Admiral's Club". At its core, it's a way of creating a community around Sleeping Beast Games and its creations. Like a fan club, but sort of different.
Watch the video below. The Sleeping Beast team explains it a bit better than I just did.
Over the course of the year, then, Smith will work on some new updates for Spaceteam AND focus on two other projects.
There's local co-operative multiplayer puzzler solver Blabyrinth, which is about teaming up with friends in the same room to work out clues and find secret treasure.
Then, there's Shipshape, which is about snapping together a modular spaceship and flying around the galaxy. This is something we've all wanted to do at some point.
If you fancy backing Sleeping Beast's new project, you can do so by clicking right here or by poking one of the buttons in the widget hovering over there at the side of the page.
