16-year-old Massachusetts high school student Eli Bock is bringing his iOS cult hit Space Kiwi to Android.

The Space Harrier-style shooter is the pet project of Bock, who was responsible for most every aspect of the game (outside of the actual coding) from level programming to music composition, timing, playtesting and artwork.

Indeed, its major draw is Bock's hand-drawn art style (think Doodle Jump meets Scribblenauts), which is combined with simple, intuitive axis-based controls.

Flap to the moon

With 60 levels of gameplay on offer, in which you're defeating 28 types of monster as you fight your way to the moon, it's good value given its 99c/69p price. There's also a free Lite iOS version.

No details have yet been provided about Android pricing, but we'd expect a comparable price on Google Play.

Space Kiwi enjoyed modest early success in the App Store following its release (2,000 downloads in its first three months), but has since rapidly accrued a following of faithful fans and players.

You can get an idea how it plays in the following video.
