Sony Ericsson’s upcoming Xperia X10 may have all the hallmarks of a truly stunning piece of mobile technology but the wait for this dream device is getting truly excruciating now.

In fact, the pain of anticipation has gotten so bad that one loyal SE fan has taken matters into his own hands and ported the Android operating system to the X10’s ancestor – the X1.

Why is this a big deal, you ask? Well, the aging X1 was never intended to run Google’s platform. It’s a Windows Mobile-based handset, and is shown in the video below running Android 2.0.1 on top of Microsoft’s OS.

Needless to say this is quite an achievement, although personally speaking we’re happy to hold out for the X10.
