Sony Ericsson: ‘no concern’ over low PlayStation downloads for Xperia Play
|

According to the Android Market numbers, Xperia Play owners don’t exactly seem to be falling head-over-heels to stump up the £3.99 asking price for the current selection of PlayStation one games on offer.

Current sales put all five of the purchasable titles (we’re not including the pre-installed Crash Bandicoot) at fewer than 1,000 downloads, with some - Destruction Derby and Jumping Flash - managing a mere 50-100, and one of those downloads was me.

Dominic Neil-Dwyer, Head of Market Development at Sony Ericsson, however, has told PlayStationlifestyle.net that the company has “no concern” over these initial figures, putting the reason for the small number of downloads on choice and how different the device was.

“There’s only a few, at the minute, PlayStation One titles there...and there’s the whole PlayStation as a content provider exclusive to the device, the story about that, that will emerge and people will see”.

There was no mention on whether the relatively high price compared to newer games on the Market would be lowered, nor any acknowledgement to the multitude of free/cheap PlayStation emulators currently reducing the need to stump up cash in the first place.
