Sega has announced that retro platformer Sonic CD will be hitting iOS platforms tomorrow, but other mobile devices will have to wait a little bit longer.

Sonic CD, a revamped version of the 1993 Sega CD original, will feature both the original Japanese and US soundtracks after requests for both OSTs to feature. Plus, players can look forward to unlocking Sonic’s sidekick Tails as a playable character upon clearing the game.

"Sonic’s 20th Anniversary has been a banner year for him – as well as for everyone at SEGA,” Haruki Satomi, SVP of digital business at SEGA of America, said.

"Gamers around the world are rediscovering their love of Sonic through his adventures, new and old. Whether you’re a long-time hedgehog aficionado looking to enjoy a favorite moment from Sonic’s past, or a brand-new player who wants to join in on the fun, there’s no better place to start than with one of Sonic’s most celebrated games, Sonic CD."

Sonic CD will be available for iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad for £2.99. Android and Windows Phone versions are due in the New Year.

Sega confirmed to Pocket Gamer last week that Sonic CD would support Xperia Play when it launches on the Android Marketplace.
